NEWonline 2.0 already bringing hundreds of members closer
Thursday, June 11, 2009
The Network’s new online community is just a few weeks old but hundreds of NEW members are already using the site’s state-of-the-art networking and collaboration tools. The all-new platform launched May 25.
“The response to NEWonline 2.0 has been quick and favorable,” said NEW Executive Director Joan Toth. “Once people register they are pretty amazed at what they can do.” The site’s most powerful networking tools – personal and public profiles, messaging, blogging and photo and file sharing -- are reserved for the Network’s two-thousand members, Toth noted.
For security and technical reasons, all members are being asked to re-join the site. Nearly 500 individual members received instructions on how to register for the new site on Tuesday, May 26.
Ambassadors key
Emails have also been sent to the Network’s 53 corporate Ambassadors inviting them to register on NEWonline 2.0 and to fill their company’s corporate membership slots using the site’s new “sub-account” function.
“The sub-account function allows our Ambassadors to assign and monitor their corporate memberships,” Nancy Krawczyk, the Network’s director of client services, said. “With the new system, the Ambassador will always know just how many slots they have open and they will be able to attach or detach sub-accounts to their master account as they see fit.”
The process is simple: After registering themselves, the Ambassador clicks on the “My Sub-Accounts” link in their control panel. Ambassadors then send out email invitations to fill their allotted corporate memberships. The process is complete when the invited colleague accepts the invitation and registers online. Nearly 1,500 corporate members are expected to receive email invitations from their company’s corporate Ambassadors asking them to become sub-account members of the Network in the coming weeks -- many have received these invitations already.
Information on these processes and an overview of NEWonline 2.0 is available on the FAQs page of the new website.
