Tuesday, June 16, 2009
A trio of accomplished and innovative business women will keynote this year’s NEW Leadership Summit October 12-14 in Dallas: Sara Blakely, founder of the fast-growing fashion firm Spanx; Kim Feil, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Walgreens; and Denise Morrison, senior vice president and president of North America Soup, Sauces and Beverages for the Campbell Soup Company. Early-bird registration for the event is now open.
“Each of these women have different stories to tell, but they all underscore our theme, ‘Smart, Fast, Flexible: How to Win in the New Economy,’” said NEW Education Chair Debbie Wildrick, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Equa Water Corporation. “Sara is going to tell us what’s it’s like to turn a concept into a $150 million enterprise almost overnight. Denise is going to tell us what it’s like to reinvent a 140-year-old, $8 billion-a-year institution. And Kim is going to share lessons on how to manage your career and move up, even in a down economy,” Wildrick said.
The eighth annual Summit will feature four breakout sessions, including a resilience assessment workshop led by Karlin Sloan of Karlin Sloan & Company and a session on career image management led by Kathryn Lowell of Image Matters. The Summit will also offer several hours of networking opportunities during meals, receptions and breaks, and optional events like Retail Safari® store tours prior to the opening reception and a Deep Dive Career Workshop immediately following the Summit.
“The Summit is more relevant, more important than ever,” said NEW Executive Director Joan Toth. “Things are in a state of change – what we make of it personally and organizationally is up to us. That’s what we are going to drill down on at this year’s Summit.”
More than 500 senior-level executives and emerging leaders from the consumer products and retail industry representing a cross-section of functions, including sales, marketing, merchandising, operations, supply chain, diversity, inclusion and human resources are expected to attend this year’s Summit, which will be held at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel in the heart of the city’s art and financial district. The Dallas/Ft. Worth area is home to some of the industry’s leading companies, including 7-Eleven, Dean Foods, Frito-Lay, Kimberly Clark, Pier One, Tuesday Morning and JC Penney.
