More than 150 consumer product goods and retail executives networked and learned about "Positive Negotiation Strategies" at the Network of Executive Women’s New York Metro group event June 3 in East Rutherford, N.J.

The reception attracted large contingents from Advantage Sales and Marketing, Colgate-Palmolive, Colonna Bros., ESM Metro NY, Deloitte, and PepsiCo QTG, among others.

The learning program was led by author Sara Laschever, a cultural observer known for her “enlightening, unsettling and inspiring ideas,” reported Harriet Tolve, manager of public affairs for Coca-Cola Enterprises. Laschever is the author of Positive Strategies for Change and the co-author of Women Don't Ask: The High Cost of Avoiding Negotiation. Tolve said, “The most eye-opening part of the presentation was the comparison between the salary level of women who don't have a strategy and don’t ask versus those who do.”
