NEW Summiteers will learn collaboratively in D.C.

Attendees at the NEW Leadership Summit 2017, September 27-29 at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C., will have their pick of seven collaborative learning sessions, organizers announced. More than 1,200 NEW members -- from every life stage and job level —are expected to attend the 16th annual women’s leadership event.

This year's Summit — themed "Thriving Together" — will also feature networking events, industry leaders and three keynote speakers: Lisa Ling (host of CNN's "This Is Life"), executive leadership expert Dr. Victoria Husted Medvec and career guru Grace Killelea.

Career experts and industry executives will present the seven collaborative learning sessions:

  • Better Strategy through Design Thinking
    Natalie Nixon of Philadelphia University will share ways to identify and reframe challenges by applying practical design strategy frameworks.
  • Discovering the Unwritten Rules of Corporate Success
    NEW’s Robert Solomon will demonstrate how to spot and decode the unwritten rules of your organization, a critical skill for career advancement.
  • Elevating Your Personal Brand
    Mita Mallick and Veronica Velazquez of Unilever will show how to strengthen and leverage your personal branding by understanding workplace culture, dynamics and bias.
  • Struggle is Real (But Not Mandatory)
    Katherine Wintch of The Mom Concept will share the struggles of “having it all” and offer advice on leaning in without tipping over.
  • The Power of Storytelling
    Terrence Gargiulo of Accenture will outline ways to sharpen your storytelling skills for deeper connection to yourself, your peers and your customers.
  • The Ties That Bind: Infusing Inclusivity into Gender Diversity
    Tedx Talks presenter Dr. Avis Jones–DeWeever will share the power of gender diversity and ways to bridge the gaps influenced by race, ethnicity and culture.
  • Women’s Leadership: What’s in It for Men
    Gender expert Michael Kimmel will lead a male executive panel discussing the benefits of women’s leadership and their own journey to advocacy.
